Something happened a year or so ago.

Out of the ordinary.

In the middle of daylight.

In front of another person that I had met at Starbucks.

It was a casual business meeting. The topic… real estate.

I sat with a gal who I had never spoken with before.

I am looking to grow my business

But I need you to know

It is a Christian business.

I exist to do God’s work.

So, if you tell me you have a new client, I will think that is is wonderful news..

But, if you tell me that you have worked with a new client and God has shown Himself to be personal to you and those he has entrusted you with, I will celebrate!

There are a lot of things I do not know, but there is one thing I know for sure:

Jesus MUST be at the front of the business.

As we were visiting, I noticed a young African American woman hesitantly stirring in the distance…

She seemed to be mustering up courage, so sure that she was not going to be able to do what had been so prominently placed on her heart.

Only looking back, can i see it with more clarity.  The stirring and the purpose.

She came up to the table where we sat and looked directly at me..

Mam, I know I am interrupting but God is talking to me and He wants me to tell you that

HE SEES YOU.

YOU ARE HIGHLY FAVORED.

HE IS SO PLEASED WITH YOU.

HE HIDES YOU IN THE CLEFT OF HIS HEART.

HE IS WITH YOU.

On and on she went, trembling the entire time…

As if she had held onto that truth for too long, and it literally frightened her to let the words take over.

And after she finished, she turned around (still trembling) and got in her green sedan that was parked directly in front of us the entire time

and she

drove off

just. like. that.

I wish I had taken notes or had a video of it so I could play it over and over again.

So I could pull it up on dark days.

The experience is still so fresh and almost surreal.

I don’t know where she came from.

I don’t know who she is.

I don’t know where she went.

I simply don’t know.

But, I will tell you this.

I am a child who came out of a less than perfect family.

I know what it feels like to be cast aside for the love of an addiction.

I know what it feels like to feel UNSEEN.

My friends…today you and I need to remember….Jesus sees it all.

Every great effort, every quiet prayer….every attempt to get healthy (emotionally or otherwise)..

And when He sees us, it carries no judgment.

He “sees” us differently.

His sight should not scare us. It should comfort us.

God’s words for us are always personal, always redeeming.

He has no problem using His Holy Spirit to speak to one person if He knows that another heart needs to receive it.

Since you know that He sees you, can I ask you…what are you keeping in the dark today?

(I ask myself the same question..)

God sees it, and He wants to comfort us with big, bolded words.

He wants to heal us from the things that have hurt us

And He wants us to know that He sees us.

“He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him” (Daniel 22:2)

Christ came to “bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…to comfort all who mourn…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair” (Is. 61:1-3).
